Architect: RooMoo.
Canada Goose, a luxury outdoor brand, has renovated two old warehouses in Shanghai to create their first headquarters office in China. The project was designed by Roomoo, a design studio, and is located in a recently renovated office park with several blocks of historical buildings. The two warehouses are spread across four levels and have been renovated to respect the old architectural spirit while giving it a modern touch. The facade textures have been kept as the original, and cladding metals have been used to emphasize the outlines of the building and protect the edges of the original openings. The interior features a shared core that visually connects the pantry to the top of the building, and the main working area is divided vertically into two parts by a series of concrete beams. The lighting system consists of six cubed metal frames placed on top of the workstations, paying tribute to the “christian column” by German architect Mies Van der Rhone. The renovation work plays a subtle role and an extension of the interior, with brown metal elements used both indoor and outdoor to connect the whole building with different functions and emphasize the contrast between old and new in terms of material choices and construction solutions. The project was completed in 2019 and covers an area of 480 square meters across four floors. The renovation work is intended to respect the old architectural spirit while giving it a new life and warm feeling with a modern touch.
