HONG Designworks has created a modern office in Shanghai for ECCO that adheres to sustainability, comfort, nature, and relaxation. The design philosophy of ECCO, “lasting, nature, and rhythm,” has been followed from design to material selection. The arch element of the Shanghai classic building is applied in the elevator lobby, and the ECCO Forest is a rainforest-like space behind the reception desk made up of iridescent glass and greenery. The meeting room has a great view overlooking the Huangpu River, and the art installation in the meeting room is a re-creation of the collection of old Shanghai window panes, carved with laser. The walls of the rest room are decorated with pictures of ECCO products and its European factories, forming an emotional and warm space with greenery. The pantry is behind another archway, where people can chat or rest with the cityscape. The VIP Lounge’s art installation is inspired by a wheat field, where the ECCO leather factory is located, using ECCO’s transparent leather as the base to show the concept of wheat waves. The show room is adopted the concept of contour lines to highlight the concept of “ecology.” By optimizing the functional layout and its lighting and ventilation, ECCO puts people first and realizes a healthier and more comfortable office space. ECCO expresses a new attitude towards design, “not just inheritance, but more perception of the present and the development of immediate design needs.”
