Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Architect: DELUGAN MEISSL ASSOCIATED ARCHITECTS.

The EYE Film Institute’s new building, designed by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects, is a highly dynamic and geometric solid that reflects light in multiple ways, creating a constantly changing appearance throughout the day. The building is designed to react to its surroundings and create a balanced urban ensemble with neighboring buildings. The design was inspired by the cinema-going experience as a game of light, space, and movement, with the white roof referencing cinematography and the façade reflecting light in constantly changing conditions. The museum opened to the public on April 5, 2012, and is an integral part of the overall urban concept of Amsterdam Noord.
