“The Busstop” is a workshop and gallery for ceramic artist Claartje Borren, located in the lake district between Loosdrecht and Kortenhoef. The building, made of Cor-Ten steel, was fully prefabricated and transported to the site for assembly. The south façade features a large perforated section door that can be opened and parked on the roof, providing both a sunscreen and a light filter or privacy screen. The basement houses the ovens, a small storage, a bathroom, and a large working table, while the ground floor remains an empty exhibition space. The rear façade is a customized cabinet that functions as a display and working desk. The building also functions as a small café on weekends. The design is both striking and understated in the beautiful landscape.
