Rozet is a new cultural and educational building in Arnhem, consisting of a library, heritage center, art center, and community college. The building is designed as an urban extension of the central route between the Station Area and the Church square. The core of the building is a glazed interior street that intersects the building on all floors, functioning as an exhibition hall, foyer, auditorium, and reading room. The visibility of the interior street from outside and the programming on the inside of the building strengthen the public identity of the building. The facade is built out of sandy, vertical concrete elements with reliefs and rosettes, giving the building texture and meaning in its public supply by their analogy with knowledge. Rozet is a sustainable building with a climate-neutral vent based on natural ventilation, a green roof that contributes to the air-condition of the building, solar panels that make a substantial contribution to energy requirements, and thermal storage.
