The amphitheater and new library at the heart of the IUT d’Amiens campus are crucial for teaching, technology exchange, and student life. The design focused on accessibility, visual openings, and interior quality, with attention to the building’s context and surroundings. The project consists of two levels, with the library to the south and the amphitheater to the north, connected by a central hall and an escalator. The library is designed to maximize natural light, with sheds on the roof and an open layout to encourage exchange and interdisciplinary learning. The amphitheater is made of light-colored concrete and features high windows that can be covered by integrated roller blinds. The building is oriented to take advantage of natural energy sources and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Overall, the design aims to create a transparent and welcoming space that fosters learning and community engagement.
