Ebury Bridge Road, which is located on a corner site next to the Chelsea Barracks building, will offer 44 excellent rooms for senior persons with dementia. The programme addresses Westminster’s severe lack of available beds for this purpose, which is the second-lowest among all London boroughs.

Innovatively reflecting the dominant style of the local architecture is EPR’s design. The new brick-faced structure will add to the rich and diverse collection of apartment-style structures from various eras that line Ebury Bridge Road and the adjacent neighbourhood. While a rough-cut stone transition wall, in forms to match that of the brickwork, creates a seamless fit between the two buildings, brick from the first to fourth floors and white textured stonework at the building’s base respond to the materiality and scale of the neighbouring street scene. The transition between the project and the terraced houses along St. Barnabas Street is further improved by recessed areas in the stone that reflect the sizes of the windows and entrance doors.
