One of the most significant archaeological finds in China is the Tuzishan relics site near Yiyang. It is an important old “Bamboo slips” relic site that sheds light on the development of Chinese reading customs. Within the excavation area, the Tuzishan Cultural Relic Museum was constructed as a venue for showcasing and promoting the Bamboo Slip, Chu culture, and archaeology.
The “Bamboo Slips” and their local setting in Yiyang are references and sources for cultural features in the architectural language of the building. representing an abstract representation of its civilization and encapsulating the site’s archaeological features. Both inside and outside of the architectural space, the idea of “Bamboo slip” as a spatial feature permeates both, creating a spatial connection to its historical and cultural past.
