The demand for a contemporary event hall has been met in Lake-City Aspern (Aspern Seestadt), northeast of Vienna, which is undergoing one of the biggest urban development projects in all of Europe. The ARIANA Event Hall positions itself as a place of assembly outfitted with distinctive architecture and the newest technological advancements by utilising the superb infrastructure of the smart-city Seestadt Aspern. An exceptionally potent ventilation system was installed taking into account the current pandemic. Our proposal was successful in winning a competition in 2019 by offering straightforward construction but a stunning appearance.
The straightforward facade component protects the building structure like a leaf of life, and its angled supporting fabric resembles leaf veins. The recessed facade creates a spacious transition region between indoor and exterior space, which is covered by the “leaf of life,” which transforms into a shell. As a result, the people who live in Seestadt Aspern and those who frequent the Event Hall start to mix and overlap. Visitors can disembark their mode of transportation in a secure room beneath the VIP section, the only component raised one storey. An acoustic wall can be used to separate the event hall’s two halves. It is simple to connect the lobby and outdoor spaces, allowing gatherings from 30 to over 2000 people as well as an unobstructed view through the entire building.
