Location: Kuwait City, Kuwait.
Architect: Pace.
Souk Al-Mubarakiya is a location of interactions, pedestrian walkways, lodging options, places where people gather, shop, and dine, and where we may experience a sense of Kuwait’s past and culture. The Kuwait Municipality hired Pace in 2021 to analyse, plan, and oversee the beautification of the Souk Al-Mubarakiya neighbourhood. This initiative aims to revitalise the Souk by improving its tourist, historical, and recreational facilities in order to promote more tourism in the nation.
The project’s main goals have been the renovation of five significant commercial locations that are located within the market’s boundaries and the redesign of a sizable municipal garden. To increase the appeal of Souk Al-Mubarakiya while maintaining its unique original identity, new facilities and cutting-edge designs inspired by the souk’s history will be added in these locations. A mosque, an international boutique hotel with 117 rooms, a museum and visitor information centre, as well as a public open-air theatre are all part of the proposal.
