The proposed GNPC New Corporate edifice affectionately nicked named, the “Petroleum Tower” is a symbol of newfound natural wealth and aspiration for the people of Ghana. It takes its inspiration from the layers of life traversed before the precious black gold is found, with a silhouette of glass behind the concrete slabs. It uses generous concrete overhangs to prevent direct solar ingress and allows more glazing in areas of the least solar incidence. The Podium acts as a concert base punctured triangularly to reveal the glazing of access points. The Glass Tower is a “glass vial” emerging from layers slashed from an oblong of 40m by 60m over a height of 75m, and the Atrium is a magnificent Atrium to bring alive the indoor spaces, natural ventilation and light.
