This project was designed to renovate 2,000 sm of existing office space for an innovative robotics company. The intent was to breathe new life into the industrial office typology by exploring polyester rope and using parametric software to vary the dimensions and densities of the parabolic form to vary the views into and out of the pavilions based on programmatic needs. The resulting rope pavilions placed throughout the space evolved into an ephemeral choreography between program, light, shadow and view. To create a sense of spectacle, the main reception desk was designed as a scaled-up version of the kid’s toy ‘Lite-Brite’ with 10,000 backlit acrylic pegs. These design elements suggest an alternative to the cubicle culture that still operates in many office typologies today.
