This multi-modal transit facility will provide connectivity, convenience and amenities to residents, workers and visitors to the re-emerging neighbourhood west of downtown Chicago. It will primarily be used for daily commuters, but will also support visitors to sports and cultural events. The headhouse is set back from the street to accommodate surge crowds and provide usable outdoor space for the neighbourhood. A large glass façade faces the street and exposes the access point into the transit system, a glazed elevator tower provides a vertical element to the design, and a mosaic mural by a local artist helps draw users to the main entry. At night, an illuminated elevator tower will provide a beacon leading visitors back to the station after evening venues.

The station features a nail-laminated timber (NLT) roof system, exposed architectural concrete, glass and stainless steel cladding, inverted vertical mullions, open joints in the glass walls, a continuous glass canopy, and a bold pattern expressing a sense of movement. It serves as a catalyst for future development and integrates additional modes of shared transit, such as a bus stop and bike-sharing station.
