The architecture of Jameel Arts Centre is unique in that it infuses art with nature and is calm, inviting and generous. It is inspired by traditional Middle Eastern architecture and allows for a flexible organization of gallery spaces. The perimeter colonnade integrates the landscape, the adjacent promenade, and the waterfront sculpture park. The semi-reflective white aluminium panels catch changing light conditions and the porous colonnade acts as a threshold between inside and outside, promoting activity in and around the arts centre. The inherent flexibility in the provision of rooms and courtyards of varying volumes means that the centre is equipped to change over time and engage and grow with the city.
