A conceptual design for a mixed-use development in Hamburg, Germany aims to introduce a new cultural identity to the Harburg inland port. Key design elements include angled brick facades & balconies, a public viewing space, and an additional urban layer on the roof level of blocks A1, A2 & A3. The potential of connecting the roof spaces with pedestrian bridges opens up the possibility to create an ‘urban plaza with shared recreational spaces’. This is a cost-effective way to add value to the precinct as a whole while enriching the community by giving them access to all the different proposed uses.
