Ayb School aims to be a combination of the best Armenian and International academic traditions utilizing the most contemporary learning technologies. The challenge was to design a campus based on the Armenian proverb “A student’s second home is his/her school”. The architectural philosophy of the campus lies in creating an open educational environment that is multifunctional and allows for learning to take place in multiple ways. The buildings are bright and transparent, with large openings on the facades and skylights in some areas. The walls are covered with white-board material and the colours and lights inspire creativity and challenge stereotypes.
The buildings are energy efficient and fully accessible for people with disabilities, with double doors at all entrances and an energy-efficient air conditioning system. Solar panels are mounted on the external wall of one of the buildings and sensors are used to automatically position them. A system for automatically dimming windows has been developed and implemented. The buildings follow a similar layout and are equipped with numerous technologies to make the modern learning process as easy and seamless as possible.
