Location: Oslo, Norway.

An opera house was to be built in Bjrvika, on the waterfront at the Oslo fjord, according to a 1999 resolution of the Norwegian National Parliament. Hence, the structure would serve as the cornerstone for the urban regeneration of this part of the city. In order to underline the social and cultural significance of The Norwegian Opera & Ballet and to distinguish Norway as a cultural nation, the government desired that the Norwegian Opera & Ballet be housed in a massive structure. The Opera House structure ought to serve as a benchmark for architectural design, construction, material selection, and technological innovations.
