One of Norway’s most significant and beloved national poets is Petter Dass. From 1689 until his passing in 1707, he served as the vicar of the Alstahaug church. He was born in Nordland’s Northern Hery (Dnna), Norway. His father, Peter Dundas, was a trader on the northern Norwegian shore. He was a businessman originally from Dundee, Scotland. He was raised by Maren Falch (1619–40). Petter started going to school in Bergen at the age of 13. Later, he pursued theological studies at Denmark’s University of Copenhagen.
