Media-TIC, Barcelona, Spain, designed by Cloud 9, won the ‘World Building of the Year 2011’ award at the prestigious World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards in Barcelona. The building was selected from 16 finalists by a ‘super-jury’ of the world’s most influential architectural and urban designers, led by Michael Sorkin. It is the first win for the host city and is an experimental district with a powerful, distributed and accessible energy load. It is a city model where residential zones and clean new industries coexist, and is part of the Districlima network. This type of model is known as GGG – Global Green Growth.
