HIA aims to redefine the passenger experience through a new expansion project, achieving LEED Silver Certification and GSAS 4-Star rating recognition. The project consists of two phases of development, with a central concourse and an 85m grid shell structure supported by 3 funnels. To design a humane airport infrastructure, the expansion includes a 6,000 sq m indoor tropical garden, showcasing sustainably sourced greenery in a spacious interior. Aedas has designed a unique airport experience with over 300 trees, a 125 m-long sky bridge, and a water feature to create a serene atmosphere. The destination-to-be terminal includes 16,000 sq m branded retail spaces and F&B outlets, and a 7,500 sq m business lounge overlooking the garden.

The combined first and second phases of the expansion will provide an additional 24 contact stands and 22 bus gates, allowing the terminal to operate at more than double its current. Aedas also developed a new Remote Transfer Baggage Facility to store up to 10,000 early baggage.
