The Public Art and Community Building Plan of Su Shanghai, initiated by the Liu Haisu Art Museum, aims to integrate art into the streets and alleys of Shanghai. The project seeks to enhance architectural vitality, community quality, urban functions, and overall quality of life by combining space transformation, artistic creativity, and community interaction. The project’s first case is the Shanghai Community Art Museum, located on Yuyuan Road, which was co-constructed by the Liu Haisu Art Museum and architect Zhang Haiao, founder of CRATER. The community art galleries are not just exhibition spaces but aim to present, narrate, and convey the community’s history, urban spirit, and humanistic care through art and interaction.
