A new bandy stadium is set to be built in Syktyvkar, the capital of the republic of Komi. The stadium will have a seating capacity of 5000 and will be used for Russian-hockey matches, short-track speed skating, and figure skating, as well as for training and international events. The design of the sports complex includes an aerodynamically shaped envelope and decorative façade elements that represent stylized players’ equipment. The façade also includes transparent apertures that symbolize balls. The lighting concept for the façade is important due to the short daylight hours in the region. The interior finishing of the stadium’s smart areas will use natural wood, and the colour scheme for the stands will be in the colours of Syktyvkar’s Russian-hockey club, Stroitel. The stadium will also be able to hold various ice shows and concerts to ensure multifunctional use of the building.
