Location: Bangkok, Thailand.
Architect: Quintrix Architects.
Kian Gwan Commercial Company, a well-known mailroom equipment provider in Thailand, had to build a second office building due to its growth. However, the building had structural problems and was vacated for years. The owner decided to demolish it and the architect suggested a new approach – a welcome pavilion that is more open to the neighborhood. The new design took advantage of the site’s major public park on the opposite side and created an open plaza that links the office with the surrounding area. The building uses the existing foundation and includes a meeting area, seminar rooms, shops, exhibition hall, and cafĂ© under one floating roof with a special geometry to reflect user activities. Support programs are on one side, leaving the other free for public use. The project aims to improve user health and mental well-being and energy sustainability.
