Location: Pskov, Russia.
Architect: Studio 44 Architects.
The residential complex consists of four parts, including a 1930s power station building that is being adapted for residential use and three newly constructed buildings. The power station is one of the first examples of its kind in Russia and the only monument of constructivist architecture in Pskov. It will retain its overall appearance and preserved structures, such as the bearing frame, coal-loading bunkers, and skylights on the roof. The former furnace room will be transformed into a multi-height lobby, and living-room windows of apartments will look into this space. Most apartments will have two bedrooms and high ceilings. The three new buildings are different in shape and height but make up a uniform ensemble due to similar brickwork and local handcrafted glazed tiles. The clean facade design is set off by lively windows, evoking old Russian architecture with its deviations from absolute symmetry and regularity. The total area of the complex is 17,534.9 sq.m, with 120 apartments in total. In summary, the residential complex comprises a power station building and three newly constructed buildings. The power station building is being adapted for residential use while retaining its overall appearance and preserved structures.
