The Design Project for the headquarters of BIALMED pharmaceutical wholesaler in Poland aimed to blend an enormous structure into the green landscape of the Masuria district. The building was designed to merge industrial architecture with nature, with greenery, sustainability, and nature being the most important themes of the project. The building is heated by heat pumps, and electricity is gained from photo-voltaic cells. The first decision was to retain the pine forest located in the southern and eastern part of the building site, which provided natural isolation from the busy Warszawska Street. The second decision was to bring greenery into the building itself by creating two patios that cut into the building volume, inviting nature inside and dividing the structure into smaller shapes. Greenery was also incorporated into the building surroundings, with pavements and roads designed as green surfaces, and trees scattered in a nonchalant way to give an impression of a natural forest. The theme of greenery, grass, wood, and Masurian stones can be found in every single detail of the building, appearing as a subtle modern approach. Even the vertical elements on the elevations of both the office building and the warehouse area reflect the shimmering pine forest. The long and horizontal warehouse volume is divided into vertical multilayered panels, while the office building has slim, vertical fins with facade glass underneath. The roof screens covering the machinery and installation units have also been divided vertically. To break the scheme and create a cohesive ornament that links the elevations of the warehouse and the office building, brown/gold panels were slightly shifted in relation to one another.
