The Man Lap Fong project is located on the south coast of Ersha Island, which is known as the Cultural Gold Coast. The project aims to create a self-reliable and sustainable operation model by funding cultural and art activities through revenues from portfolio operations. The design of the project includes covered passageways surrounding a courtyard that accommodates various functions such as exhibition, shopping, dining, office, leisure activities, and performance shows. The courtyard becomes a well-enclosed public urban space that integrates the surrounding buildings into an internally coherent community. The southwest side of the building has a gradually ascending veranda that serves as both a shading system and a sightseeing platform for a panoramic view of the city. The design also promotes anti-consumptive behaviour by hiding the shops in the atrium corridors and animating them with community activities. The project has become a hot spot highly recommended by social networks in less than three months since its opening.
