The design of Fengshan Station is inspired by the old streets and alleyways of the town, with lower floors accessible as open spaces that connect with the rest of the city. A green corridor bridge connects the east and west sides, while a green field and a gigantic arched corridor respond to the axis of the ancient waterway on the north and south sides. This creates an all-around “heart of four-axis” concept, allowing Fengshan Station to connect to essential urban features in four directions. As part of the Kaohsiung Railway Underground Project, Fengshan Station will bring new opportunities for urban development and change negative stereotypes of railway stations. The semi-outdoor commercial space on the third floor is inspired by old streets and department stores, while a cinematic-culture commercial chain will also be introduced, providing entertainment and leisure space for local residents. The old brick turret of Fengshan Ancient City is the main influence of the building style and materiality, integrating with the Swallow Tail Roof Ridge of Fengyi Academy to bring back the glorious memories of the Fengshan North Gate. As trains enter and leave the station, people can recall the good old times, while crowds are passing through the North Gate. Fengshan Station is part of the Kaohsiung Railway Underground Project, positioned to the east of Kaohsiung Station and west of Houzhuang Station. The project will bring new opportunities for urban development and change negative stereotypes of railway stations. The inhabitants of Fengshan city are eagerly anticipating the new station, which could bring cultural and economic opportunities to the historic city.
