The Longhua Sanzhi Bilingual School in Shenzhen, China, is set to be completed and put into use by September 2019. The winning design, called the “School in the Forest,” aims to create a multi-dimensional space that satisfies the needs of students, teachers, parents, and society. The school will be a place where students can explore and satisfy their curiosity, teachers and students can grow together, parents can build education together, and the school can share social resources and incubate innovation. The design also includes convenient and efficient management facilities and safe operating spaces. The proposal includes an “informal teaching space” that guarantees efficient and convenient teaching functions while creating a natural and relaxed atmosphere in the forest. The outdoor forest, composed of gray space steel truss structure, forms the unique architectural image of the school and becomes a campus filled with distinctive characteristics and fun. The Longhua Sanzhi Bilingual School is a representative of the future school, considering the needs of all parties and responding to the needs of future growth, flexible space, pleasant place, inspiring education, and exploratory education. The school also takes into account the setting of the pick-up and logistics streamlines, finding a harmonious balance between efficiency and pleasure.
