Location: Leermos, Austria.
Architect: noa* network of architecture.
Noa* has designed a new wellness area for the Mohr Life Resort in Lermoos, Austria, which takes inspiration from the surrounding environment. The glass and cement structure is designed to blend in with the natural landscape, with the imposing 3,000 metre Zugspitze mountain overlooking the valley. The wellness area is designed to resemble a theatre, with different areas offering unique views of the mountain. The building is made up of simple shapes, with glass cubes creating the structural grid for the edifice’s skeleton. The pool runs flush along the length of the spa’s glass front, creating a mirror effect of the mountain. The relaxation areas are designed to look like theatre stages, with different designs of deckchairs and swings. The swimming pool extends into the open and features chill-out areas boasting different sensorial experiences. The harmonious integration of cement and glass gives the project a contemporary touch, with the floors overlaid with a continuous resin coating. The 20 islands of the new spa were designed by noa* and produced by artisans, with specific light sources used to provide illumination. The building’s exterior reflects the natural hues of the surrounding environment, while the interior colours and textiles were inspired by theatre stages.
