The author was given the task of renovating two apartments into a single penthouse with the look and feel of a high-end alpine chalet. The resulting contemporary condo features clean lines, warm colours, and a masculine palette. The entrance features a Chinese sculpture of the Princess of Love, and a smaller sculpture of her sister is placed in the guest toilet. The bedrooms feature old wood and glass wall panels, light oak wood floor planks, and customized wooden cupboards and desks. The bathrooms feature stonelike “grès cérame” and timeless simplicity. The master area of the penthouse features a majestic fireplace made of local stone, a white armchair made of Tibetan fur, and a comfortable Italian couch. The kitchen features a mix of wood and glass, complemented by a black stone top and a black glass backsplash. The dining room features an antique table and newly upholstered chairs with intricate pattern designs. A minimalist staircase made of oak and glass leads to a cozy room under the roof for the friends’ kids. The ensuite Southfacing master bedroom features a customized desk, a double bed, and a night table made of grey leather, as well as a sauna with a great view. The balcony features a range of chairs, tables, and sunbeds, as well as faux-fur plaids and cushions.
