The robotics company that commissioned this building, emphasised clearly what they didn’t want: a boring box. Using this as a starting point, the design addressed three major design challenges:

a) reconciling the seemingly at-odds manufacturing and office space programmes’ scalar and programmatic requirements,

b) navigating the difficult zoning and by-law restrictions our property, which is situated very next to the YYC International Airport, presents; and,

c) designing buildings that would upend conventional workplace typologies and encourage a culture of transparency, sharing, and collaboration.
