The CapitalMed Medical City is a new healthcare, research, and teaching campus located on 110 acres in New Cairo, Egypt. The project aims to create a healthcare destination within the MENA region that promotes wellness and sustainability. The campus will have a 2,000-bed medical city, with nine speciality medical institutes, and a 5-star hotel, and will be completed in four phases over 7-10 years of construction. The project is grounded in the roots of Egyptian culture, yet modern and clean in its expression of architectural and interior design. The campus planning focuses on creating a consistent experience across the facility from a public, patient, caregiver, and visitor standpoint.

The design approach is to create a community for healing, with 30 acres of open green space and recreational areas that support recovery and well-being. The project embodies social, economic, and environmental factors into the design from the start, with a focus on improving the lives of all socio-economic populations within the region. The design of the Medical City focuses on the treatment of mind, body, and spirit by promoting healthy lifestyles, integrating holistic medical care, providing a diverse offering of educational services, and complimenting these services with the integration of sustainable design features in the built environment. The project includes sustainable building system design, landscape design, and sustainable systems integrated into the overall campus and building design. A major design feature includes the introduction of a photovoltaic collection system on the roof of the medical facilities to maximize the electrical efficiency of the City through the harvesting of the sun.
