Cloud DCS, a major player in China’s digital industry, enlisted the help of Hong Kong-based design company Arboit Limited to design their company headquarters. The brief was to create a figurative language that would translate the reality of the internet as an important agent of change in our lives and society. The concept of “flying through the sky” emerged as a theme to represent the idea of the digital highway as a stream of data crossing the skies to serve our lives. The design vision was to create a layered ceiling sculpture that epitomizes digital communications across space and highlights its immaterial and yet powerful nature. The ceiling feature is made of metal profiles painted in seven gradients of blue, covered by Barrisol’s stretch fabric back-illuminated by neon lights. The same rarefied artwork defined by the ceiling is reflected on the floor as a gigantic painting printed on the resin creating the impression of walking on the sky. All colours used in the interior design are exclusively white and seven tones of blue, defining the brand identity as well as the signage and artworks. All architecture pavilions, rooms and built-in furniture in this project are characterized by a common theme of movement and are shaped in aerodynamic curves. These rooms and installations positioned in between ceiling and floor layered artworks seem to whirl and move along the colored lines as if they were navigating across the skies of intelligence’s digital highways.
