The Dujiangyan Zhongshuge bookstore in Dujiangyan, China has been designed to create a paradise for bookworms. Inspired by M.C. Escher, it features unique C-shape bookshelves with a natural walnut color, an arc shape that divides the forum area, and an endless bamboo forest with a panda illustration hanging on the bookshelves. The cushions are stacked like hills and provide comfort for children to sit on the ground and relax. Yu Qiuyu once wrote that Dujiangyan is a spiritual city with over a thousand years of history. The Central Literature District uses a mirror ceiling to visually expand spatial ductility and create an open and high feeling.

The bookshelf wall is inspired from the Dujiangyan dam, and the book tables are like boats floating between the bookshelves. Through the door holes on the bookshelf wall, different functional areas are all under the eyesight, enriching the visual experiences of readers. The designer uses tile technology to depict ancient people’s wisdom in the reading area, display the innocent happiness of encountering the bamboo sea in the children’s reading area, or portray the natural scenery in the literary area.
