The Hongkong Land Yorkshire Complex project aims to combine open block and public space to create a one-stop consumption center for middle and high-class families. The project integrates shopping, catering, recreational consumption, and community park to provide an excellent shopping experience and create a regional landmark commercial center. To meet this challenge, the PHA design team proposes the design concept of “urban natural community commerce” core, which merges the natural ecology in commercial experience and considers environmental issues in urban development. The team creatively combines the natural feature of Chongqing, “green valley and river bank in mountain city,” with new technologies such as photochromic glass, intelligent thermostatic system, four-season simulation system, and multimedia interactive technology. They also adopt a new ecological scale, including an indoor botanical garden of approximately 6000 sqm, a 25m waterfall landscape, 100 natural plants, and a 42m vegetation dome. This rare indoor botanical garden among commercial complexes in China creates an immersive natural space experience.
