The International City of Tapestry and Woven Art in Aubusson aims to preserve the intangible cultural heritage of tapestry-making and reestablish Aubusson’s place in the contemporary creative landscape. The City’s contemporary role is part of the transformation of the former National School of Applied Arts, utilizing its monumental aspect and quality interior spaces. The City’s outer shell is made of a combination of wooden strips and printed textile coverings, evoking the raw materials of wood and color in tapestry. The City’s international influence aims to make it one of the main symbols of Aubusson, with its visibility in the city and entryway concepts taking into consideration the different types of people that interact with the structure.
