La Fabrique is a music facility designed for contemporary and emerging music. It includes two performing show halls, 16 recording and training studios, spaces for digital experimentation, offices, and welcoming public spaces. The project is located on the “île de Nantes” and takes place on one side of the previous Dubigeon warehouse, near the Alstom warehouse and the old shipyard turned to great gardens. The project is made of three distinct elements: the 400 Hall, the 1200 Hall, and the studios suspended above an old air-raid shelter. The project aims to remind us that culture is a continuum made of sedimentation and fertile rediscovery. The history of the industrial warehouses, the techniques that built them, the ships built with the strength skills and talents of the workers, and the artists whose eyes felt on this universe are all part of the project’s inspiration. The project is designed to be flexible and to place under the same roof an experimental workshop, an assembly line, a rectification workshop, an export site. The project also includes high-quality environmental and acoustic devices.
