The city of Chasseneuil-du-Poitou wanted to build a cultural and festive hall in the Gare district, which was undergoing restructuring. The building is entered from the northwest via a covered pedestrian square with benches. The hall’s glass wall guides visitors to the cultural hall. The building’s load-bearing structure is made of concrete, while the roof is made of metal. The entrance hall is spacious and has a vegetal patio that allows natural light and nature into the building. The hall encourages conviviality with simple circulation and visual openings to the outside. The bi-functional hall has a double orientation to meet the needs of both performances and banquets. The asymmetrical volume of the space increases its capacity for performances without seating. The acoustics of the hall were carefully considered, and a high-performance acoustic wall can change the room’s typology. The banquet hall opens onto a terrace that rises above the entrance square, creating a podium for solemn events.
