The Médard Museum in Lunel and the Maritime Museum in Sète are two new cultural attractions in the Languedoc Roussillon region, both supported by the region’s funding. The Médard Museum houses a collection of 5,000 artworks from the 17th to 19th centuries, based on the library of bibliophile Louis Médard, while the Maritime Museum showcases the legacy of shipbuilder André Aversa, with model ships, jousting sets, costumes, and more. Both museums stand out for their restored architecture and unique collections. The Médard Museum is located in a redeveloped 18th-century building in the town center, while the Maritime Museum is in a former IFREMER building that had been abandoned for a decade. The restoration of both buildings was carried out by renowned architects Nicolas Crégut and Laurent Duport, known for their contemporary and historic restoration projects.
