The China Building Materials Academy has launched the 1st International Sustainable Building Design Competition, which aims to promote green building in the modern and digital world. The competition focuses on the development of sustainable buildings that improve the relationship between humans and nature. The School of Sustainability (SOS) believes that economy, applicability, and beauty should be the drivers to achieve near-zero carbon emission buildings. The proposal should consider renewable energies, new materials, and new technologies that are suitable for the local climate. The proposal should also be adaptable and resilient to the future’s tumultuous climates. The proposal should consider employee wellbeing and workplace satisfaction. The proposal should create a hybrid environment where meeting rooms and workstations constitute only 30% of the masterplan, while 70% of the space is dedicated to breaking away from one’s station. The final product should be a synthesis of tradition and technology, with its form shaped by the local environment and needs of the population.
