Wang Shu, a Chinese architect who runs Amateur Architecture Studio with his wife Lu Wengyu, has won the 2012 Pritzker Architecture Prize. His works often make use of recycled materials and he is dedicated to building timeless works that interact with their environment and make use of available materials in an efficient way. The History Museum at Ningbo, one of his most famous works, is an urban icon and a well-tuned repository for history. The museum embodies strength, pragmatism, and emotion all in one. Wang Shu’s works are largely unknown outside of China, but his talent and dedication to sustainable architecture have made him a worthy recipient of the prestigious Pritzker Prize.
