In 1984, the demolition of the Gare de la Bastille marked the beginning of the construction of the new Opera building. The building is located in a low-rise neighborhood and blends in with its surroundings despite its impressive architectural and urban impact. The lighting system designed for the Grande Salle covers 900 square meters and creates an unusual and extraordinary illuminated ceiling. Each lighting fixture was custom-made with a focus on easy maintenance and disassembly. This innovative design required precise study and structural characteristics. Halogen lamps were only used in public areas.
