Tei-Oku-Iti-Nyo is the Japanese architectural ideology that a building and its garden should be integrated together to create an exquisite harmony between the two. Park Well State Hamadayama庭屋一如 is a serviced apartment complex for seniors located close to the centre of Tokyo in a typical residential area. The courtyard is overflowing with greenery and serves as a safe walking space. Observing the greenery from the common areas or sitting on the balcony listening to the sounds of water from the waterfall and pond, the negative effects of the urban location are minimized. The residents spend a lot of time in the building.
The buildings have a C shape layout to allow the residents to perceive nature from all the spaces. The southern wing of the building forms a large curve, allowing more sunlight and creating a deep open space for the local community to relax and unwind. Underground Amenities allow Harmony with the Neighborhood, such as the main dining room sunken below grade, and the depression in the landscape is filled with greenery and a waterfall. The home includes facilities and equipment to allow seniors to live a safe stable life, such as all-day dining, a public bath, a billiards room, and a fitness centre. It also includes Circadian lighting, humidifying air condition system, floor heating, business continuity measures, a nurse call system, absence monitoring, and other devices to reduce the stresses of daily life.
