The square pavilion is designed to be temporarily installed in public spaces for short-term art projects. It was created for the State Tretyakov Gallery to showcase ProYavlenie, a mediaproject that reproduces the creation process of Aleksandr Ivanov’s famous painting ‘Christ’s Appearance Before the People’. The pavilion has a frame structure that can be easily assembled and taken apart, with a fabric surface that imitates wet concrete. The canvas inside the pavilion is made to the exact size of Ivanov’s painting and projects all of his sketches and preparatory studies in succession. The pavilion’s principal facade is divided into three segments, with diagonal entrance apertures on the side segments and a circular skylight on the roof. This creates a play of chiaroscuro and an intimate atmosphere for immersion in the world of the artwork.
