Location: Shenzhen, China

Architect: BIG

The new Qianhai Bay development will be completed by BIG’s “leaning” Qianhai Prisma Towers, which include a 300m-tall residential tower and a 250m-tall office tower. This will firmly establish Qianhai as the developing financial and cultural hub of Shenzhen. The BIG-designed Qianhai Prisma Towers will flank each side of the Shenzhen Hong Kong Plaza, often known as the “green belt,” which will serve as the neighbourhood’s entry. The plaza is located in the Guiwan District in the metropolitan city of Qianhai. New homes, offices, and 20,000+ m2 of multi-level public spaces will be built close to Qianhai Bay and a regional transportation hub.

Cascading green terraces are introduced from the street level to the roof, where office workers and visitors can take in 360-degree views of Qianhai Bay by peeking through the building’s envelope holes. To increase PV efficiency, PV cells are incorporated between the West and East façade spandrels of the office tower’s slightly slanted structure. The most exposed orientation of an office skyscraper uses a double-skin closed-cavity façade (CCF) to improve thermal performance and better adapt to the local environment. In order to allow for natural ventilation, the window frames of the apartment tower units contain movable ventilation inlets.
