The Bower is a redevelopment of a collection of 1960s buildings that were originally built for British Telecom. The site has been transformed to include a new pedestrian street that connects Old Street with Moorfields. The buildings now house a mix of retail, restaurants, studios, and offices. The public realm has been regenerated to create new external spaces and routes that link north to south. The tallest building has been extended and given a new facade, with a metallic grey-brown colour and patterned glass spandrels. The Warehouse has been restored, with the original pre-cast concrete panels and cleaned bricks. The new Studio buildings have a similar design to the Warehouse, with brick and profiled glazing frames. A new route has been created on the ground floor, introducing permeability and connecting to a new courtyard and street route. The project is part of the wider regeneration of the Old Street area and was completed in August 2018 with a budget of £115m.
