The Floating City is a mixed-use complex located in Salmanshahr, Iran, designed to revive the local economy by bringing together fishermen and farmers in a single location. The project is modular in design, with a corrosion-resistant body that is shaped by the sea. The complex is equipped with pedestrian, car, and bicycle roads, as well as boat channels, allowing users to experience the traditional local transportation methods. The project has different varieties of openings towards the sea, allowing people to interact with the water in various ways. The complex is organized around main voids, designed as courtyards, and all functions are located in all sections of the project. The local markets are organized in two levels, with fishermen and floating fishing markets located in the lower levels and local markets and handicraft shops settled in the upper levels. The project aims to preserve the coast line by pulling itself up to let the coast line pass through it. The Floating City is a heterogeneous city that holds locals, tourists, buyers, producers, and distributors all next to each other.
