Location: Shanghai, China.

Architect: Lacime Architects.

The project is located at 1520 Alley, Huasha Road, Jing’an District, Shanghai City. The north facade of the building is a landmark facing Huashan Road Green Park, to the east there is a residential community, and to the south is a power substation. Architects aim to give it a new appearance and life, providing high-quality space and environment, improving the urban image, and creating a “P.U.R.E.” quality in design. Modularized GRC and EPS gridding components are used on the north facade, forming a Mondrian mechanism for geometric abstract painting, and shadows created by a continuous movement of the sun add a dynamic sense to the building. The simple white exterior of the building features angled frames and is like a beacon of light for the surrounding neighbourhood. In the side alleys, what was once dark and uninviting spaces have been transformed into bright alleys with hidden lighting.
