Location: Danzhai, China.
Architect: Wanda Hotel Design Institute.
The hotel is situated on the side of a mountain and has a total surface area of 6260m2. It has 95 guest rooms and is built at different levels of elevation. The hotel has two floors above ground and two below ground. The ground floor has a gym, a terrace restaurant, and a spa, all of which offer stunning views of the mountain scenery. The spa is connected to an outdoor hot spring on the floor below, which enhances the beauty of the surrounding scenery. The exterior of the hotel features architectural elements typical of Miao village dwellings and ancient Chinese structures. The interior decoration continues the theme of Miao culture through the use of various local decorations and materials. The design elements include screens used in Miao dwellings, wax-dyed tapestries, illustrations of the fabulous garments worn during “Golden Pheasant” dances, and intricate birdcages of Kala Village. The central theme of the hotel is “alluring cultural performances and tranquil strolls against natural, idyllic backdrops”. The colour theme of the hotel is primarily composed of grey tones but is highlighted by the vivid blue of the Miao people’s ethnic garments.
